His skin was starting to itch in the sun, so it's a good idea for him to do something where it's dark. There's blackout curtains all over the house for Katsuki's sake, at least.]
I'll make some onigiri. The rice won't take too long to cook, and I can make extras for you to eat on your trip home.
[And like Rinku, he remembers little facts about his friends like how she likes round food like onigiri and donuts!! He's never made donuts before though so rice balls it is!]
[Rinku sparkles and makes a little gleeful noise. She tries to get up, pauses, turns awkwardly to remove the bunny that is still standing on her tail, and then gets up successfully to follow Katsuki back in.]

[Katsuki smiles just a little bit when he's called the best. Unable to stop his ego from being fluffed up with the compliment. He just loves praise, okay--]

Katuski decides, because it sounds good to him too even if he's not hungry for human food, to make some with fresh veggies. Healthy!! After making the decision he'll close the fridge and get started on the rice first. He's so serious when he's in the kitchen, too... looking like the head chef of a restaurant as he grabs the bowl from the rice cooker.
And then he looks at Rinku with a stern look.]
Open that cupboard and open the bag of rice.
[He points to a bottom cupboard near the fridges with his foot. Since he has one arm, it's always been a hassle getting rice ready.... he can on his own. But why would he when he can use Rinku and her healthy arms instead???]
[Rinku goes and opens the cupboard, pulls out the rice... gets distracted looking at everything else in there... oh, yeah, she has to get the rice. She pulls that up and sets it on the counter, then opens up the bag.]
[Oh Rinku and her ADHD... there's mostly rice and other grains down in that cupboard!! Nothing interesting enough to get distracted!!]
Yep.
[Katsuki fills up the bowl with three cups, there being a little measuring cup inside the bag already, and takes it to the sink to rinse.]
Todoroki and Sensei are so lucky I decided to move in with them. Neither of them are good at cooking, and these great ingredients were being wasted in their hands.

Almost every meal, yeah. It's probably why he doesn't mind how bland and fucked up Todoroki's cooking is. His taste buds are all whack.

Though... I mean. Todoroki's been through this whole different universe thing before. I think he's accumulated about four years total between two different places? So he's at least had a lot of time to learn how to cook proper.
He cuts his vegetables much better than he did back home, and he's gotten alright with the salt levels.

And beyond just being sick of convenience food, a place like this where everyone is being useful in one way or another makes you wanna work twice as hard yourself. Things you suck at, that you didn't care about before, now feel like stuff you gotta fix or you'll be stuck behind everyone else.
[Katsuki knows that feeling all too well. He's plenty strong on his own and people STILL don't take him seriously. Because of his age, mostly. And it's frustrating as hell, but the only thing you can do really is show them that they're wrong with your skills.]
People don't realize how powerful their judgement really is, though. Spite is an incredibly useful emotion. It can motivate you to do insane shit that you otherwise couldn't or wouldn't have done before.
[Gonna go put the bowl into the rice cooker, and set up the time.]
And then the people who looked down on you are the one with the egg on their face. It's hilarious.
I dunno a lot about spite, but I know it feels good to be able to do stuff people didn't think you could. Or for them to be proud of you and start thinking you can do it.
Havin' people rely on you feels awesome. When you know that there's people who look up to you and wanna see you succeed? It's a pretty damn good motivator, too.
[Katsuki's one of the strongest Heroes out there, and he has a ton of people back home (many of which are Heroes themselves) who feel relief just seeing him walk into the room. Knowing that Katsuki's about to kick some ass and save theirs.
It feels great to know that he's that appreciated and relied on back home so dang much. And he can't wait to get his new arm so he can be that person to rely on here, too.]

And you may wonder how a one armed man is able to cut something when it needs to be held down usually or it'll slip away. Well.... Katsuki ain't no normal man, and after he places a cucumber down onto one of his cutting boards he grabs a knife and stabs it right through pretty roughly to pin it down to the wood.
And then he cuts it up like a pro, into small enough pieces to be in the center of a ball of rice! It takes longer like this since he needs to stab every single thing he's cutting to the board but he's still pretty fast, clearly used to this method already.]
It's something that takes time to master. I've been cookin' since I was really young and that's the main reason why I'm this good in the first place.

My mom's the kinda person who won't let you eat unless you help make the food. Or do the dishes afterwards, but that's dad's job.
So I've been helping her since I was a little kid.
