[Katsuki knows that feeling all too well. He's plenty strong on his own and people STILL don't take him seriously. Because of his age, mostly. And it's frustrating as hell, but the only thing you can do really is show them that they're wrong with your skills.]
People don't realize how powerful their judgement really is, though. Spite is an incredibly useful emotion. It can motivate you to do insane shit that you otherwise couldn't or wouldn't have done before.
[Gonna go put the bowl into the rice cooker, and set up the time.]
And then the people who looked down on you are the one with the egg on their face. It's hilarious.
I dunno a lot about spite, but I know it feels good to be able to do stuff people didn't think you could. Or for them to be proud of you and start thinking you can do it.
Havin' people rely on you feels awesome. When you know that there's people who look up to you and wanna see you succeed? It's a pretty damn good motivator, too.
[Katsuki's one of the strongest Heroes out there, and he has a ton of people back home (many of which are Heroes themselves) who feel relief just seeing him walk into the room. Knowing that Katsuki's about to kick some ass and save theirs.
It feels great to know that he's that appreciated and relied on back home so dang much. And he can't wait to get his new arm so he can be that person to rely on here, too.]
[time to fill a montage with talking about city repair efforts, Hina's birthday and how she got jealous that the vampire-turned attendees "evolved," the upcoming Solstice celebrations, quests........]
Thanks a lot, Katsuki-kun ♪ This was fun! Way better than having to get bunnies off the roof.
[So much to talk about... by the end of the 40 minute montage, Katsuki is so socially drained. But! The rice is ready so the onigiri are soon to be finished!!]
You're welcome. Now get ready to shape the rice balls. I'll cut up the veggies.
[Again, just using Rinku as if she offered... but he'll go ahead and pull out some vegetables out of the fridge. Cherry tomato, cucumber, pickled plum, and carrots. And you may wonder how a one armed man is able to cut something when it needs to be held down usually or it'll slip away. Well.... Katsuki ain't no normal man, and after he places a cucumber down onto one of his cutting boards he grabs a knife and stabs it right through pretty roughly to pin it down to the wood.
And then he cuts it up like a pro, into small enough pieces to be in the center of a ball of rice! It takes longer like this since he needs to stab every single thing he's cutting to the board but he's still pretty fast, clearly used to this method already.]
It's something that takes time to master. I've been cookin' since I was really young and that's the main reason why I'm this good in the first place.
[He probably started when he was like.. six.]
My mom's the kinda person who won't let you eat unless you help make the food. Or do the dishes afterwards, but that's dad's job.
So I've been helping her since I was a little kid.
[Which is why he's making Rinku join in!!]
Edited (typos and such shh also im so sorry but i just realized i used "in the first place" two dialogue sentences in a row..........) 2025-06-12 22:56 (UTC)
[She definitely couldn't do that at her house... Mary's helped her bake cookies, but if Rinku made everyone contribute to cooking, she'd feel too mean and there'd definitely be a mutiny.]
But that makes sense. It's really amazing when you think about it. I guess everything gets better when you work hard. All right! I'm gonna keep trying!
[Not everyone can be a Bakugo. Their house is so strict and loud and angry most of the time....
Katsuki will smile as he continues to chop up the veggies, passing them off to Rinku while she rolls them up. There'll be plenty extra of them for Rinku to take back on her walk!]
Work hard so you can be better at cooking than your neechan.
[He somehow doubts that Evangeline can even cook in the first place--]
Oh, she's working on learning too! We still have her over for supper a lot. I bet she's gonna learn all kinds of things!
[Rinku bounces on her heels a little.]
I think Neechan's actually been learning cooking more than before... Wonder what happened? Maybe it was having people she's dating now. That kinda thing happens in manga and stuff.
